About The Artist
—
Hello and welcome to my website! I'm Rebekah Arvin, an artist based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
At the age of ten Rebekah discovered her artistic talent in the use of charcoals and pastels in still-life. Her artwork was further enhanced by attending Saturday classes at Herron School of Art during grade school and high school. She
studied three years at Herron School of Art and although she has worked with oil, pen & ink, pastels, graphite, and printmaking, watercolor remains her favorite media for which she has received numerous honors and has displayed her Watercolors in many art venues throughout the state of Indiana.
When asked what inspires her, Rebekah’s reply is simple. “Every time I paint. God is holding the brush. I want people to smile and enjoy my work.”
Rebekah’s artwork has received numerous honors. and includes florals, landscapes, abstracts, birds and rural subjects such as barns and winter scenes. Among those are “People’s Choice" Award, Will Vawter Art Competition: “Governor’s Award' . “First Place". “2nd Place." and “Honorable Mention" lndiana State Fair and “Best of Show" at the Riley Festival. She was accepted in the 81st and 82nd Annual Hoosier Salon and has displayed her watercolors in Anderson, Madison, Nashville, IN, Broad Ripple, Zionsville, Greenfield, lndianapolis, Mishawaka, lrvington, Greensburg and Broad Ripple.
As a member of the Hoosier Salon, Watercolor Society of lndiana Art Association of Madison County and Brown County Art Guild, Rebekah has sold many watercolors and keeps in touch with her purchasers whenever she has displays.
In addition to the regular watercolor art created by Rebekah, she also accepts private commissions.
After Rebekah’s parents arrived from Manila after WWII. they settled in Indianapolis on the east side, where her mother’s family resided, near Franklin Road and U.S .40/ Washington Street. She has remained an “east sider" and is a Hoosier born Filipino-American.
Her best supporters for her watercolors come from her two grown sons Keith and A.J. and her best friend and husband Steve, to whom she has been married since 1972. Her 6-year old granddaughter Annie Jo, may be painting along side Rebekah in the near future.
